What should you do?
If you have dropped your phone in water, then here is what you should do:

1. Remove it from the liquid

The first thing that you should do is to remove it from the water immediately to reduce the risk of permanent damage.

2. Turn it off

To prevent permanent water damage, you should switch the phone off immediately. While it can be tempting to unlock it and see if it’s still working, this could cause further damage that makes iPhone or Samsung repair impossible.

5. Dry it

Once everything you can has been removed, dab the phone with a paper towel to absorb any of the excess water.

5. Sit it upright

Once the excess water has been removed, sit the phone upright for 48 hours to dry out before trying to turn it back on. If it does turn on, back up your device as soon as possible.

What not to do

Water damage is one of the most common causes of requiring iPhone or Samsung repairs. If you have dropped your phone in water, there are some actions you should avoid doing. One of which is putting the phone in a microwave or using a hairdryer, as this will cause overheating that could result in more damage to the device. Equally, you should not attempt to put the phone in a freezer.

While one of the most common suggestions online is to put your phone in a bowl of rice, research has shown that a good circulation of air is more effective.
